The Township of Plummer Additional works together with the Town of Bruce Mines to offer the community with an array of clubs and organizations for recreational and service purposes. The Plummer Additional area provides its residents and visitors with a natural environment which supports recreational activities for all seasons.
During the winter months area residents take full advantage of the variety of cold weather activities available to them. The Central Algoma Centennial Centre is used for recreational hockey, public skating, and curling. In addition, this area boasts great cross country skiing trails and ample space for the snowshoe enthusiast.
Snowmobiling is popular in this area and there are many trails available to the snowmobiler. The Bruce Mines and Plummer Additional snowmachine trails hook up with the Algoma Snow Plan which extends from Garden River to Thessalon. For more information on the area’s snowmobile network, call the SnoGlyders Snowmobile Club at (705) 736-2827.
In the summer months, the Central Algoma Centennial Centres and Exhibition Fairgrounds provide a diverse number of activities for the young and old alike. Facilities to be found at this complex include a baseball field, horse corrals, equestrian riding rings, horse shoe pits, tennis courts and an indoor ice arena.
In addition to the above, due to the readily available access to the inland lakes and Lake Huron, there are several public beaches, boat launch ramps, and campgrounds found in the town and township. The advantage of having access to water adds to the number of recreational activities for the public. As a result, boating, water-skiing, sailing, and fishing occupy the time of area residents and tourists.
