You are required to obtain permits for the installation or any alteration, extension or repair of an on-site sewage system.  Algoma Public Health is the principal authority for the enforcement of the Ontario Building Code & Act as they relate to private on-site sewage systems in all areas within the District of Algoma. Algoma Public Health strongly recommends that all private home owners test their well water 3 to 4 times per year to ensure that the water is safe for consumption.

Water sampling bottles can be obtained at:

  • the Township of Plummer Additional Municipal Office, 38 Railway Crescent, Bruce Mines
  • the Sault Ste. Marie Public Health Lab, 160 McDougald Street, Sault Ste. Marie
  • any Algoma Public Health office

Labour Day Office Closure

The Township of Plummer Additional Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, September 1st for the Labour Day holiday.

Regular office hours will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
